Day Camp Staff
Description:
Rise and Climb aims to run highly active, fun and challenging Day Camps with the goal of providing campers with better climbing and challenge course skills. Our overall goal is to mentor children in the areas of self respect, self esteem and foster better social and friendship skills by using the Challenge Courses, Zip Lines, Laser Tag and the full Terry Fox Sports Complex amenities. Day Camp Staff are to provide leadership, supervision and care to our Day Campers each week. They will also be trained as Course Guides.

Requirements:
> Must be 18 years + of age, very responsible, relatively fit and have excellent people skills.
> Complete Course Guide training covering equipment usage, rescue training, risk management & safety.
> Must have Emergency First Aid Training.
> Experience working with children in grades 2-9.
> Complete Day Camp training covering camp operations and camper care.
> Enjoy working outdoors rain or shine and at heights of over 40ft.
> Team oriented
>Problem solver
>Adaptable
> Must have a reliable means of transportation to Cornwall.
> Be willing to work Monday to Friday between 8:30 and 5:30 for July and August.
> Extra shifts can be gained by working additional Course Guide shifts.
> Climbing or High Ropes experience is desirable.

Salary: $15 to $16.50 an hour.(based on experience)

Dates: July and August for Day Camp shifts, but Course Guide shifts run from May until November.

Duties Include:
> Interacting with day campers in a friendly and professional manner.
> Provide Leadership, Supervision and care for campers
>Organize and run Day Camp activities like Laser Tag, Sports, Games, Crafts, Swimming, etc..
> Mentor campers in areas of self respect, esteem & social interaction through formal & informal means.
> Fitting campers with gear and training them on how to navigate the course safely.
> Evaluate campers ability during and after ground school and offer appropriate feedback and instruction.
> Assist campers who are struggling on the course and perform rescues if needed.
> Repair minor damages to the course.
> Inspect course prior to opening and assist with necessary adjustments.
> Correcting those who are NOT using the course safely and removing them if necessary.
> Ensure course is kept tidy and litter free.
> Complete and log various reports.
